OUR STORY, QUICKLY
The Year Was 1995
Russell began the journey to forging the craft movement by making small-batch unpasteurized “Real Beer” with all-natural ingredients.
David vs. Goliath
It did not take long before Russell knew that it was time to challenge the “Goliaths” of the beer world, and we did so by making ultra-great tasting craft beer that was new, and fresh – unlike the typical beer you may find in your dad’s refrigerator.
Fast Forward 25 Years
Russell Brewing Company continues in its pioneering spirit; relentlessly forging a new path in the beer market. Last year we brewed and released over 30 craft beer flavours loved by all who were able to sneak a taste.
RUSSELL BREWING BREWMASTER
DAVE VAN ALLEN
Dave is the brewmaster here at Russell Brewing Co. and has been working in the brewing industry for over 7 years! You can find him at all hours of the day working closely with the brew team, creating, as he would say those, “Good Brew Vibes”. He is stoked on anything to do with barrels and never turns down an opportunity to fill one with a new and exciting beer.
Where might you find Dave?
Look for him at almost any beer festival or stop by the brewery for a chat he’s always willing to talk for hours about anything beer related.
HEAD OF R&D
Bryan is the head of R&D at Russell Brewery, and works with Dave the Head Brewer to create the next trendsetting pint. Nothing satisfies Bryan more than creating fun and exciting new beer recipes. Except for drinking them. His hobbies include tasting beer, shopping for brewing supplies and talking to his friends about beers. Basically, anything that is beer-related, he probably loves. Although he enjoys all styles of beer, Belgium style beer will always have a special place in his heart.
Looking to connect with Bryan?
You will most likely find him among Russell’s beer equipment, daydreaming about their next beer release.
Graham started at Russell Brewing Co. in July 2018, but has been working in the industry for over 18 years. He has quickly fit in with the Russell Brewing team, and has expanded his collaborative efforts with peers and associates to take things to the next level. Along with his diploma in Craft Beer and Brewing, he has a degree in Biology! Both of these from Simon Fraser University. Although born and raised in Vancouver, Graham has lived all across western Canada in pursuit of his career.
What’s Graham Passionate About?
We’re glad you asked. Graham’s passions include golf, snowboarding, and camping; but don’t hesitate to track him down around the brewery for a drink! Cheers!
Taylor is our newest and youngest brewer at Russell. He started out packaging beer but quickly moved his way up into brewing. He has expressed interest in brewing beer since day one at Russell and his eagerness to learn has paid off. He loves all beers but sour beers are his favourite! His hobbies include drinking beer (obviously), snowboarding, and hitting up as many concerts as he possibly can. He has picked up the art of brewing really quickly and he can’t wait to start offering his input on our new brews. Taylor is constantly asking questions and taking every opportunity to learn this art form. When he isn’t brewing beer you can likely find him “testing” beers at local Vancouver breweries. He is a welcomed addition to the team and he has a very bright future ahead of him.
